| I have a few questions about the Unblack metal. We all know that bm started as satanic music, and maybe it wasnt about the music at all in the begining.. Later, a new wave of unblack metal was unleashed by Horde, then other bands followed... but the elements of the music are still the ones that meant to be satanic, for example: -the growling which is an unusual way of singing (scary for some). It is the voice of the devil who speaks through a possessed person in sessions of exorcisms...(i guess you know what i mean by possession). However, the growling concerns Black and Death metal equally. but, what about the CORPSE paintings ?? Why would Christian bands use these elements ?? Unveil the kingdom of darkness and let the truth be revealed. | |

| To be honest, I don't know why some bands wear corpse paint, but I don't really care all that much.
For most people it's just music and image, has nothing to do with satanic stuff.

| first off, your premise for what is evil and not is based more on Hollywoods view than a biblical view.. i am not trying to sound harsh here. but "growling" is not soley inclusive of just "demonic" things, it is a natural sound. scary images, are not inherently evil either, though they may be scary.
the bible is a solid handbook anc clearly lays out what is sin and what isnt, what is evil and what isnt. musical sounds are not evil, wearing war paint isnt evil, its just goofy (trust me i know) but there is nothing evil about wearing it.
evil is sin, separation from God, rebellion to Gods ways..
music is an artform, and the other things are just aesthetics

| It all come down to your "state of heart before God". As long as it honours God encourages others to glorify God then you're ok. This applies to everything... not just BM | |

| you will note that I called it "war" paint... So with my band we dress up scary (with extremely limited budget too) and it is done to appear fierce or warlike.. its a simple aesthetic, to read too much into is when we start to get goofy IMO.
i could go into the "corpse" paint, as the bible says "it is not I who lives but Christ who lives in me" the concept of "undead" or "corpse" is not a hard connection to make.
We are also called to "die daily" as Christians...
the bible also says that to the world, our lives are the very smell of death to the world.. as they do not understand why we waste our lves in dedication to the Lord...
so there are plenty of connections to be made, playing music, that fits into a subculture, (metal) is not wierd or crazy creating an image that fits the sound and vibe of the music, is also not an unartistic thing to do... next it seems easy to me to make many different scriptural grounds for representing yourself in paint on stage..

| I found this on the web about the warpaint and all, from the viewpont of Shamgar from Slechtvalk... Dutch: - Quote :
Translated: - Quote :
- At gigs you walk around with painted bodies and attributes like swords on stage. What is the meaning of that?
Shamgar: In the black metal scene there are a lot of artists who put paint and fake blood on their bodies. Everything needs to look as evil as possible. With us, it is to show the battle, which comes from the lyrics. Than it is about the battle of faith, but also about other experiences with battle. We show that we dare to fight this battle and don't flee from it. In that way our show is (similar) to our lyrics. We also dress as Medieval warriors, which gives us a powerful (look), which also comes forth in the music. That explains the warpaint, anyway

We are also called to "die daily" as Christians... That's always what I thought of, if I were to wear corpsepaint. About dying to our self. But at the same time I would want to show light and life through it . So I would do both, somehow.
