| please check the rules - topic.
I have decided after talking to Max that we will be more strict concerning vocabulary, I'm personally against too much censoring, but I do understand that words like 'fuck' should not be said.
Words still allowed when used moderately are : shit, damn, hell.
please do not use them every other post because you are eligible to use them, since if the usage will be over the top, I will delete them and give you a warning.
Hence the 'moderately'.
This rule is added since we ARE a christian (or at least believing) community where we should respect people from all cultures and denominations, it's not because some of us (Including I) don't have a problem with it, that we should offend those around us.
I hope you all understand.

| Yeah, I found that weird too By the way, when I was on Firestream someone (a christian) said: DAMN!!!! I responded to that... But it just seems that damn is not the literal meaning of ''damn'' in all languages. But, well, I still find it disturbing. | |

| The problem we enter here is the difference in cultures and their morals. In the US, a word like "shit" is considered rather offending, whereas in Europe it's common language. In contrast, in Europe a word like "damn" is considered rather offending, whereas in the US it's common language.
The addition of this rule is not to specify which words are good and which words aren't. I would personally advise to refrain from using strong language altogether. However, to prevent this from becoming a witch-hunt and pure censorship, we got ourselves a compromise here. If you're offended by certain words we allow, contact Matt.
The bottom line is, refrain from using strong language, or limit it to a minimum. We are not to offend our brothers and sisters, whether we agree with their morals or not. It would seriously sadden me if other Christian metalheads would refrain from joining this board because they're offended by the language of those with different morals. | |

| Indeed, the thing is we are dealing with the english language here, and you can't translate ''connotation'' the f-word (I hate that term but OK), is probably one of the rudest words in the english language (at least in christian circles) words like 'damn' are far from 'rude', although not highly preferred. shit is somewhat of a 'between the 2'. -- Ash, I don't have a problem with sheisse -- Carla, see above, and also about hell, this again, is a word where the line isn't easy to draw. 'you're going to hell' or 'damnation' are 2 words where the words are used in a rather inoffensive way. Where to draw the line is hard, so I will leave these open as 'ok', yet as I said, just use them moderately, most people on here don't even use all these words, so there is no difference. And do note that this is quite hard for me too. I use strong language a lot too, but as an admin I have to admit that I'm not a good example if I use those on a christian forum, especially not since we're not only europeans but people from allover the world. So I hope you all understand this decision ? | |

| I do guess most people here won't be affected by the new rule, it's not that this board has been 'cussing-galore' or something | |
