ROYAL ANGUISH: New CD coverart revealed

Royal Anguish has released the coverart for their much anticipated upcoming CD, entitled The Grand Deception:



The artwork was done by Alexandra V. Bach at Ravendusk Designs (KAMELOT, WYKKED WYTCH, OPERATIKA). Said frontman Matt Knowles: "Alex did a great job in capturing what we were looking for with the cover. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a high quality product from an artist with an 'easy to work with' attitude."

Royal Anguish's "A Journey Through The Shadows of Time" CD and "Tales of Sullen Eyes" EP were released through Fear Dark (Holland) in 2006.

Royal Anguish's bassist, Sean Tibbetts, is currently on tour with KAMELOT through Europe.

Lemme tell you all this:

the original version of the cover had her naked... no kidding... (artist's idea)... had to nicely tell her that we needed a clothed version for our cover :-)

Well the biggest difference to me was this: the artist is from France and we're in the USA... nudity is much more accepted in Europe as compared to here (correct?) - so to her no big deal.... but over here that would immediately limit the ability to get it into stores etc...

My personal preference is this version also... for multiple reasons... none of which have to do with the actual model herself... just think this makes more sense for what we're trying to prtray anyways...

Although it is more accepted here, it isn't really all that appreciated on cd's as far as I know,
(especially not around non-metalheads).

And if you want to keep most part of the ''christian'' fanbase, it would be a wrong step too,
although I know Royal Anguish is not a christian band.

Well... either way I'm still a christian and I am around kids on a regular basis and being a moral example is a big deal to me. I don't want some parent thinking i'm peddling pornography cuz of a CD cover. I actually had someone flip out one time cuz one of our flyers had a guy in ANOTHER band with his middle finger up.... really small and it could barely be seen.... but they still went crazy over it - "how dare you give that to impressionable kids"! I was like gimme a break... but giving a younger person nudity over here is REALLY taboo... and there'd be nothing we could do to justify that. (nor would we want to). And as I said before I truly didn't think it had any place on our cover to begin with so it was an easy decision :-) We don't want to offend any part of our current fanbase or potential fanbase with artwork or politics etc...

Yeah we want to be there pretty bad... our current drummer was just there on vacation.... blargh.... our bassist is there playing with Kamelot... double blargh... me and asgrim are here busting our humps doing the production of the cd so we can get back there!

i think it's cool that you consider the moral example thing that important. (:

Yes being an example is of huge importance to me... I think in life its gotta be...

And don't worry if/when RA makes it across the pond Holland would be a definite. We all loved that place.... gotta find some way to get like 549 pounds of your cheese back over here.... amazing stuff!

But yeah if/when we get back over there I think you'll get a better, albeit different show this time... our internal band chemistry was at an all time low in 06 and it took a large toll on us... thats much different now and our material is much more fun to play live (at least for us)
